While these disciplines have a common creative process and share transferable skills, each has its own discrete body of knowledge and set of discernible skills. Learners experience a wide range of Expressive Arts in Templeton.
Learners will be taught new skills, have support to practice and then be given opportunities to independently apply their knowledge skills and understanding through a range of contexts.
In Templeton the dynamic nature of the Expressive Arts engage and motivate learners, developing their creative, artistic and performance skills to the full.
Templeton aspires to increase learners’ knowledge and awareness of the artistic world. Learners will be deepening their understanding of the ideas and disciplines within the areas of learning and experiences they have both in and out of the classroom environment.
Children will be learning the skill of refinement and growing sophistication in the use and application of their artistic skills. Expressive Arts enable the children to make connections and transfer the learning into new contexts.
There are performances across all disciplines, such as choir, chapel services, Harvest and Christmas performances. Dance and Drama are included across the different themes and Areas of Learning. Animation lessons including the Making and editing films and videos using the green screen.
Annual Whole School Art Exhibition for children to create and share their work and reflect as both an artist and an audience. Class trip Visits to art galleries. Opportunities to work with local artists or in the style of local, British and global artists. Exposure to music, art and writing from different cultures and time.
Using digital media devices to record, arrange and improvise music. Children create Christmas gifts designs to sell to develop their creative and enterprising skills.
The dynamic nature of the Expressive Arts can engage, motivate and encourage learners to develop their creative, artistic and performance skills to the full. The Expressive Arts Area of Learning and Experience (Area) spans five disciplines: art, dance, drama, film and digital media and music.
Although each discipline has its own discrete body of knowledge and body of skills, it is recognised that together they share the creative process.
Art, within Expressive Arts, includes the experimentation and development of an almost limitless range of resources, materials, techniques and processes across all types of art, craft and design to produce a range of outcomes and to demonstrate a personal and creative response.

There is a ‘Friday Afternoon Enrichment Club’ until 3pm for anyone wanting to use it.
Free breakfast club is available everyday between 8am – 8:30am and after school club is available Monday to Thursday.
We have a very active school fundraising charity called ‘Friends of Templeton School’ (FoTS).
