Parkrun is a brilliant way of helping people to get active, meet friends and enjoy being in a beautiful setting.

Over time more and more people from our school community, staff, children, parents, governors and friends, thoroughly enjoy either walking or running around the weekly 5k Colby Parkrun. This has been great for everyone’s mental and physical well-being.
Due to the popularity of Parkrun amongst our school community, in 2023 we started working closely with the Parkrun UK Central Office to find ways to actively promote Parkrun as part of our health and well-being curriculum.
We worked very closely with Parkrun UK in order for Templeton School to be the first ‘Parkrun Promoting School’ in the UK and hope that this will be rolled out to other schools through the country.
As a school, we do many things to actively promote Parkrun, for example;
At a takeover event, the Parkrun, usually staffed by its’ own team of marshalls and volunteers, is taken over by Templeton school with members of the school assuming these roles instead.
We normally turn up in school colours on these ‘take over’ days to promote our school and its link to Colby Parkrun. Please come and join us for the next one, they are great fun!
It would be brilliant for the numbers of people from our school community attending Colby parkrun to grow and grow over time. Please make the effort to come once to see Colby Parkrun in action. We are certain that you will really enjoy it and you may wish to make this part of your weekend routine.
There is no cost for attending Colby Parkrun and there is absolutely no pressure to run. It is a three lap course; you may wish to walk, jog or run one or two laps the first time or you could just watch if you’d prefer. It’s just about being outside and active with your friends in a beautiful place and something that we are very proud to actively promote.
If you want to know more about the Colby Parkrun and its link to Templeton School then please speak to Mr Phelps, the head teacher.
Hope to see you there some time!!
